Patterdale Mountain Rescue

The Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team is a volunteer emergency rescue service based in the Lake District, Cumbria. Established in 1964, the team provides search and rescue support for people in difficulty in the mountains, valleys, and lakes around the Ullswater Valley. Made up entirely of trained volunteers, the team is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Their operational area covers about 140 square kilometres of some of England’s highest and most popular fells, including Helvellyn. The team responds to incidents involving walkers, climbers, runners, and other outdoor users, as well as assisting with searches for missing people. Since its formation, the team has carried out thousands of rescues, making it one of the busiest mountain rescue teams in the UK.
