DERWENT RESERVOIR, CONSETT, COUNTY DURHAM
We’re thrilled to be returning to the beautiful Derwent Reservoir near Consett in 2027 for the Derwent Reservoir Triathlons and Duathlons, in partnership with Castle Triathlon Club of Prudhoe and Northumbrian Water.
Set on the stunning Durham/Northumberland border, this scenic multisport event offers Sprint and Standard Triathlons, Sprint and Standard Duathlons, and Aquabike events, making it a fantastic challenge for beginners and experienced athletes alike.
With calm reservoir swimming, quiet country lanes and scenic trails, the Derwent Reservoir Triathlon is one of the most picturesque triathlon events in the North East.

Whether you're looking for your first triathlon in the North East, a scenic duathlon in County Durham, or a new challenge for the season, Derwent Reservoir has something for everyone.
The event is suitable for all abilities, from first-time triathletes and duathletes to experienced athletes. There are no cut-off times, and relay options are available.
Swim – 750m | Cycle – 22km | Run – 5km
A great introduction to triathlon and an ideal choice for beginners.
Swim – 1,500m | Cycle – 39km | Run – 10km
A longer challenge for athletes looking to step up their distance.
Run – 5km | Cycle – 22km | Run – 2.5km
A fantastic option if you prefer to stay out of the water while still taking on a full multisport challenge.
Run – 10km | Cycle – 39km | Run – 5km
A challenging longer-distance duathlon combining scenic running and cycling around the reservoir and surrounding countryside.
Swim – 750m | Cycle – 22km
Swim – 1,500m | Cycle – 39km

Please note that routes are subject to change up until the day of the event.
We anticipate that water temperatures will be warm enough to make wetsuits optional. However, we do recommend wearing a wetsuit for comfort and buoyancy, particularly for less experienced open water swimmers.

Small bags or boxes allowed
You must wear your helmet and have your bike number attached before entering
Post-race, bike and bib numbers will be checked before exiting
Live chip timing will be provided by Timing Up North.

Parking is available at Derwent Waterside Park for all participants and is charged at £3 per vehicle.
Please note there is a 10–15 minute walk from the car park to the event area.
