Hadrian’s Wall Marathon – 2027 

We’re delighted to introduce a brand-new Hadrian’s Wall Marathon in 2027!

This challenging and unforgettable trail event will take runners through some of the UK’s most historic and spectacular landscapes, following the iconic Hadrian’s Wall Trail before joining the existing half marathon route towards Hexham.

Distance

Marathon – 26.2 miles

Date: Saturday 16th October 2027

This brand-new marathon offers runners the opportunity to experience more of Hadrian’s Wall, taking in its incredible scenery, rich Roman history and rugged trails.

Route

The marathon route is currently being finalised. Expect 17-18 miles along the Hadrians Wall Footpath.

Runners will follow the iconic Hadrian’s Wall Trail before joining the existing Hadrian’s Wall Half Marathon route towards Hexham.

More route information will be available once the final details have been confirmed.

Shuttle Bus

This is an A–B event, meaning the start and finish locations are different.

Runners must book the shuttle bus to the start or arrange their own drop-off at the start. The buses will be available to book closer to the event. 

There is no return transport after the event.

Bag Drop

• There will be a bag drop facility at the start and bags will be transported to the finish.

• Further information will be included in the event information sent to participants.

Cani-cross Friendly

This event is cani-cross friendly, so you can take on the marathon alongside your four-legged running companion.

• One well-controlled dog per person is permitted.

• Dogs must remain on a lead at all times.

Start Times

Start times are to be confirmed but it is expected to be between 8.00am and 9.00am.

Full details, including registration times and start arrangements, will be shared closer to the event.

Live chip-timing provided by Timing Up North.

Public car parking is available in Hexham town.

Please car share where possible.
