WESTONBIRT LAPPED ULTRA - 3HR / 6HR / 12HR

Next Race: 19/09/2027

Westonbirt Arboretum

Event Overview

We’re thrilled to bring a brand‑new endurance challenge to the breathtaking Westonbirt Arboretum — a Lapped Ultra set among some of the most beautiful woodland trails in the UK.

Unlike a backyard ultra, there’s no need to run on the hour every hour. Instead, you’ll take on a stunning 5‑mile loop, running it as many times as you can within your chosen time limit.

Choose from 3‑hour, 6‑hour, or full 12‑hour categories — the most laps completed wins! Each lap must be finished within your event time for it to count, but you’re free to rest, refuel, and restart whenever you wish.

Race Format

  • 5‑mile woodland loop through Westonbirt’s iconic arboretum trails

  • 3‑hour, 6‑hour, or 12‑hour timed challenges

  • Solo or Team (up to 3 runners) entry options

  • Run continuously or take breaks — it’s your race, your pace

  • Complete as many full laps as possible within your chosen time

Those tackling the 12‑hour challenge could still approach it like a backyard ultra — and rack up an incredible 55 miles of running through the forest!

Expect a relaxed yet competitive atmosphere, with plenty of space to rest between laps, refuel, and cheer on fellow runners. Whether you’re chasing mileage goals, testing endurance, or simply soaking up the woodland magic, this event offers a truly unique ultra experience.

What to Expect

Whether you're chasing your first ultra distance, aiming for a personal best, or battling for the podium, every lap counts. The runner who completes the most laps within their race time will be crowned the winner.

Finisher Medals & Distance Awards - Every participant will receive a bespoke finisher's medal for completing their chosen event. In addition, runners will earn a special distance achievement add-on, reflecting the total distance they cover throughout the race. The further you go, the bigger the achievement. So no need to stay to the very end - complete as many laps as you can, and then finish when you choose.

Fully Supported Aid Stations - To keep you moving throughout the day, we'll provide two well-stocked aid stations:

  • Mid-lap aid station approximately halfway around the course.
  • Event Village aid station at the lap start/finish and timing area.

Both locations will offer hydration options and a selection of race-appropriate nutrition to help fuel your efforts, whether you're tackling a few laps or pushing through the full 12 hours.

Recovery Support - We're delighted to have support from The Thornbury Clinic, an award-winning team of physiotherapists, sports injury specialists, massage therapists and rehabilitation professionals who focus on injury recovery, sports performance and wellbeing. They offer expertise in sports massage, injury assessment, rehabilitation and recovery treatments designed to help athletes perform and recover at their best.

The team will be on-site throughout the event providing recovery services to help tired legs feel fresher, keep runners moving comfortably, and support post-race recovery.
