KINGDOM OF NORTHUMBRIA COASTAL ULTRA – 2027

This spectacular ultra trail event takes runners along the stunning Northumberland coastline, starting near Bamburgh Castle and finishing at Druridge Bay Country Park. Participants will pass iconic landmarks including Beadnell Harbour, Dunstanburgh Castle, Craster Village, and Warkworth Castle.

Routes are free to view and download (please ignore any pop-ups).

BUSES

This is an A-B event, so runners must either book the shuttle bus to the start from the Finish before the event or arrange their own transport to the start.

For the avoidance of doubt, the buses take you from the finish to the start before the race. There are no buses after the event.

Bag Drop

There will be a bag drop at registration and all bags will be transported to the finish.

Feed Stations

Well-stocked feed stations at Low Newton, Boulmer, and Warkworth Beach for the 55km & Warkworth Beach for the 27km.

Mandatory Kit List

Runners must carry a backpack with:

  • Water/fluids
  • Charged mobile phone with emergency contacts (ICE)
  • Food/gels
  • Headtorch (if finishing after 4:30pm)
  • Lightweight jacket

Start Times

  • 54km Ultra – Two starts:
  • 8:00am (runners slower than 6.5 hours)
  • 10:00am (runners quicker than 6.5 hours)
  • 27km Ultra – 10:00am

Cut Off Times

There is a strict cut off of 6pm for the event as we will run out of daylight and all marshals will be stood down for safety.

 

Anyone who doesn't reach the final feed station by 4.30pm will not be allowed to continue for safety reasons.

Timing

Live Chip Timing will be provided by Timing Up North.

The Finish

All finishers receive:

  • Metal Event Medal
  • Exclusive T-Shirt
  • Snacks and drinks

Parking

Car parking at Druridge Bay is payable for all competitors/spectators no matter where you are in the Country Park.

EXPLORE DRURIDGE BAY

The Kingdom of Northumbria finishes at the beautiful Druridge Bay Country Park, so why not stick around and explore the area after your run?

Druridge Bay is a stunning stretch of Northumberland coastline, with sandy beaches, dunes, woodland and the 100-acre Ladyburn Lake. It’s a great place to walk, relax and enjoy the scenery after your run.

The country park also has a visitor centre, café, toilets, walking routes and plenty of space to unwind, making it a great place to spend some time after crossing the finish line.
