A great and beautiful run
Jordan was so helpful with our late entry! First canicross and we loved it. Perhaps would have been easier to let the dogs first as was tricky to overtake on narrow paths but overall it was great and can’t wait to do our next one!

Scenic and friendly !
We loved being able to take part as a canicross team ! The views were amazing and the hosts/ marshals really were very friendly and welcoming ! Great for a beginner too!
I would suggest reviewing the start / more staggered for the canicross to avoid dogs catching up to the people. Additionally having more rules around the canicross attire / dog welfare - there was a lot of people running dogs on collars/ unsuitable equipment which can cause injury to the dog and generally unsafe- additionally some people racing letting dogs off lead mid race caused issues with others. Maybe consult a canicross team/ coach to help regulate as would love to keep wild deer inclusive of canicross going forward. Thank you !

Very scenic run. Really lovely helpful volunteers and helpers
There were a very small minority of canicross runners who swore at other runners when trying to pass them and let their dogs get under other runners’ feet. Maybe a slightly longer time separation would be helpful.
Stuart Davidson
Brilliant!

Another fantastic event and location; despite the weather.
The briefing needed to be much louder (agreed the weather/wind didnt help!); I had to pass the details back to my wife, who was running at the very back with our dog.

Excellent Event Especially for Beginners
Anna Brown
Amazing run for anyone starting out
Incredibly well organised, a perfect route for beginners - the challenge being the distance rather than terrain. The scenery was spectacular so well worth the trip.
Sarah Patterson
Great event with stunning views
The only constructive criticism I would give is to move the merch and drinks collection point further away from the finish line to avoid congestion at the end.
Nick Holden
Great event
Would it be better to stagger the start based on what times people expect to finish in.
So faster runners first?

Good event in a great location
My second year doing the canicross. Although I was prepared to have to overtake lots of people this time, it still seemed inconvenient for both those running with dogs and those without. Would it not make more sense for the canicross to start first, then we wouldn’t have to overtake 400+ runners

A scenic trail run with great views over Grasmere and rydal
The narrow path along the start of the terrace made it difficult to overtake so I was stuck behind people walking for a while, as I started 5 minutes behind with running with my dog. A larger gap between cannicross and normal runners, with the dogs maybe going first instead would have worked better. I just enjoyed the run and didn’t go for a good time as it was quite congested at times. But otherwise a really great event!

Sensory overload but in good way!
This was our 1st Wild Deer event and our 1st Grassmere 10k Trail race. Loved it from the start...atmosphere was great, scenery beautiful, route great. Everyone was super friendly. The only daunting factor was the mass start as not used to non runners together with canicross runners. Did get a bit bunched in places but once through it went smoothly.

Want to come back next year!
Wish the canine cross people had run first as the dogs kept overtaking us and getting in the way

Well organised, fun event
Volunteers were great, cheering you on throughout. Route was clearly mapped out. Good facilities. Just a generally enjoyable first ever trail race :) thank you
Robert Harper
Lovely race, well organised and very friendly.
Could do with some proper food wagons for lunch afterwards and a female fit t shirt. Male shirts do not fit females. Lakeland trails and Due North both offer female fit.
Isabel Savage
The perfect race for someone wanting to try a trail race!!
Only downside was briefing/start line could have done with speakers/megaphone to help overall start organisation.
Paul Wilson
Well organised
Jordan the volunteer organiser was awesome

Great Canicross Route
It was my first Wild Deer event but have entered a few later this year.
I Canicross and it is great to see that being now welcomed by organisers like Wild Deer.
However, there were quite a lot of dogs today being either run on anti-pull harnesses or hand-held via a collar. Both are dangerous for dogs and can cause serious injury so it would be great if you could advise against that on future events.
We loved the route and really want you to continue to welcome Canicross we just want to see the safety of dogs being protected.
See you at the Tatton race.

Love a Wild Deer event

Brilliant route perfect for all runners
Staff were accommodating when I swapped to the 5k last minute
For the price that is paid, which is on the higher side for this type of event in the lakes, I would like to see photographs free
